Sharks Fall in Thrilling NECBL Championship Opener

Keene, NH - August 7, 2025 - The Martha's Vineyard Sharks put up a valiant fight but ultimately fell 13-12 to the Keene SwampBats in Game 1 of the 2025 NECBL Championship Series at Alumni Field. The high-scoring affair saw the Sharks rally with powerful offense, but Keene edged out the victory in front of 2,640 fans under mostly sunny skies with temperatures at 82 degrees.

Standout performances from the Sharks included Blake Binderup, who went 3-for-5 with a home run and 3 RBIs, Max Kaufer, who also went 3-for-5, including a homer and 1 RBI, and Carter Bentley, who smashed a home run with 2 RBIs. Will Hampton also contributed a home run and 1 RBI, while Brayden Martin added 2 hits and 2 RBIs. On the mound, starter Ross Felder pitched 5 innings, allowing just 2 earned runs with 1 strikeout.

The Sharks look to even the series in Game 2 tonight at home against the SwampBats. First pitch is set for 7:05PM.
