2021 Summer Internship Application
Thank you for your interest in becoming a summer intern with the Martha's Vineyard Sharks, a member of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. The Sharks organization strives to provide its fans, sponsors and partners with the very best in competitive baseball and affordable entertainment in a family-friendly atmosphere. With this goal in mind, the organization depends
on building a championship caliber team on and off the field, each and every season.
Application Procedure & Requirements:
Candidates must be:
- Enrolled as a full time student at a college or university.
- Interested in the internship opportunities and tasks available (see below).
- Willing to work for at least 40 hours per week during the baseball season if
necessary (May 20th through August 17th), which includes days, nights and
weekends.
- Willing to make your internship the top priority during the Sharks season.
Candidates are required to have their own:
- Means of transportation to and from the baseball park (the “Shark Tank”) or access to the VTA bus system (www.vineyardtransit.com).
- Housing on the Vineyard.

Expectations & Intern Code of Conduct:
All internship positions provide qualified candidates the opportunity to gain valuable work experience. Interns are expected to work together as a team with the leadership of the Sharks management to create the best experience for fans and players.
It is expected that all interns are willing and able to provide exceptional customer service, communicate well and work efficiently. Interns are expected to agree to follow the Code of Conduct at all times. The purpose of the Code of Conduct is to ensure a professional work atmosphere that is focused on providing the best fan experience.
Code of Conduct:
- No cell phone use during work hours.
- No eating while working except during scheduled breaks.
- Interns are not permitted on the playing field (dugout or bullpen)
during the game without permission from upper management.
- No interaction with Sharks players during the game unless required
to do so for a specific task.
- Interns are responsible for ballpark cleanliness at all times.
Failure to comply with the Code of Conduct policy could result in termination
Intern Positions
All interns will work with upper management in executing the business plan for the season and the daily operational plan. All interns must also be willing, if necessary, to serve as our mascot at games and special events. All interns will also be responsible for tasks assigned by upper management.
Game Day Operations: Assist upper management with everyday field operations; maintain electronic box score at home games for Pointstreak; assist Sharks PA announcer during home games; manage between-innings games and contests (selection of games and contestants); assist with 50/50 raffle during games; assist at the food concession or apparel sheds as necessary; keep the field and stadium clean and safe.
Media/Public Relations: Coordinates postings to social media (Facebook, blog, website, Twitter); Interview players and coaches for the Sharks blog and write recaps of each game for posting on the Sharks blog; Assists PA announcer before, during and after home games; utilizing photoshop (if skill set is available) for advertisements on website and blog.
Athletic Trainer: Must be involved in a curriculum that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) with the goal of becoming a Certified Athletic Trainer. Works with the players at all home games providing immediate care for all injuries, rehabilitation and reconditioning.
